I chose this video because we are currently dealing with daily routines, and this video not only gives students an authentic input but also a guide to organize their own day.
The objectives are:
Study some vocabulary
Learn to describe their day
Listen to specific information
The activity starts with them at home listening to the video a couple times and writing down the vocabulary they don’t know yet. The day after we will talk in class about what the video is about and understand the differences between his school and their school. Next, they will have to answer the questions in the video and finally students will write down their own daily routine and will tell it to a partner and prepare some questions for them to answer.
Making students watch the video at home and review vocabulary is a fantastic way to anticipate what the video is about and what they will have to do the next day, so they don’t feel lost.
Students loved that the video stops right after the information they need to answer. They didn’t feel lost and watching it at home made them feel engaged the next day.
I think that next time I will have to gradually increase the time between questions so it is a little bit more difficult for them.
